February Desktop Wallpaper Calendar Freebie!

Left click on image, then right click to save it as your desktop image.

Nine years ago today, my husband and I were married. It was just the two of us, no family, no children (my son was just 4 at the time) and it was a quiet, lovely moment. No big fuss, as we both had been married before and it truly wasn't necessary. We got married at The Balsams, in northern New Hampshire.

As you probably noticed my website is back up and running. When I left a few months ago I had plans to return to college to finally finish my college degree, something that has haunted me for a long while now. (seriously.. I have nightmares about it!) As it turns out, the timing isn't right and I'm going to wait a bit longer. I received an email the other day from someone who requested I start Percy & Bloom back up, the timing was perfect and it was just the spark I needed! I'm glad to be back here, like whenever my husband and I go back up the Balsams, it just feels like home and I missed you.

Please grab the above February Wallpaper as a Thank You! Thank you for keeping up with me. Thank you for putting up with my back and forth, my on again, off again attitude. I swear I have creative ADHD. I get sidetracked, forget what I am doing, loose my thoughts, change my mind. Often. But I always seem to come back to here. This creative place in my life.

I found this quote the other day and I just love it!

“Trust yourself. Create the kind of self that you will be happy to live with all your life. Make the most of yourself by fanning the tiny, inner sparks of possibility into flames of achievement.”

Happy February!

For all of the Stamping Fans out there!

Here is an antique advertisement for handstamped wallpapers. This came from a 1887 Farm and Home Newspaper. As the ad says.. a Woman Knows What a Woman Wants.  I love it!

Vintage Wallpaper Images

Here are some lovely scans of vintage wallpaper for you. These were bits I picked up from  the ever talented Melissa of Meliscellanea. Aren't they lovely? It's always nice to be able to print out a background for a new (or old) project. If you follow her blog you might be lucky enough to grap some gorgeous lovelies from her shop. She doesn't put things up for sale often, but when she does they are gone in snap.

Enjoy!

More PNG's and thank you!! *Fixed it!

**IT WAS BROUGHT TO MY ATTENTION THAT THE TAG PNG DIDN"T WORK, IT SHOULD BE OK NOW! :)

Wow! What a great response to yesterdays post! :) You guys put a huge smile on my face! Thank you! I'll definitely work on some tutorials for you.. it may take a few days to put together, but hopefully Friday I'll have the first one done. Here are some more PNG's for you since the others got a great response.. now, when appropriate, I'll create two formats of the free images I post.. jpg and png.

Happy Creating!

Playing with PNG files and wallpapers...

Click this image for more info on PNG files...

I have been making some PNG files for you! :) Quickly, for those who are unfamiliar, PNG files have a transparent background around the image. Meaning, that the border you see as white, isn't there when you insert the image into a digital project.

I know that Photoshop is the software of choice, but for those of you who can't afford it, or don't have the hours to learn how to use it, PhotoScape (FREE!) is a great alternative! (I haven't received any favors from PhotoScape for this...)  Using PNG images makes it even better for collaging images. If enough people comment on this post, I'll do a tutorial on how to use PhotoScape (I use it for 80% of the work that I do and have been using it for about 3 years) and how to create with PNG and JPG images.  It is really cool and has lots of potential for creating fun, dynamic collages.

Enough blahblah... here a few PNG images! :)

Here is a jumbled idea of what PNG images can do.. note that the frame is empty, and the box shadow is translucent to the subject below it... and the tag over the frame..

Do you need the JPG format too? I'm not sure what people out there are looking for.. I'd love to offer what you need, so speak up and I'll do what I can!

Also, I have been playing with the idea of making wallpapers but there are so many screen sizes out there and creating a dozen different sizes just doesn't seem like fun. But a few I can handle..  :P I have done a trial image, if you try it let me know how it works. Again, if you want them I'll make more! (my screen is uber large so it's hard to gauge how it'll look on yours.)

MAY CALENDAR WALLPAPER:

I have made a few more wallpapers for you and also have more PNG's but I can't share them all today. I need something for tomorrow!
