Friday, February 11, 2011 at 7:57AM Another fun possible Valentines or Wedding image. The text is fabulous and I love the drape of the border.
Someone inquired as to how I shift the images from colored to straight black and white. I'm not sure how professionals do it, but this is how I do it.. :)
I use PhotoScape (a free online photoediting software) once I have my image selected, I increase the contrast, then convert it to black and white. (one of the small tools on the bottom right hand side of the screen, the button is a small gradiated square going from black to white). Then I increase the contrast again until the majority of the gray speckle is gone. Hope that helps! I have absolutely no idea how to do it in Photoshop.
Enjoy!!

Thursday, February 10, 2011 at 8:05AM This Victorian Advertisement for The Ladies' Home Journal from 1891 is one of my most favorite finds this year! I scanned it from an 1891 newspaper. (I don't recall now which one.. I have dozens..)
I just had to pull this lovely lady out of the ad for you.. she is gorgeous! Perfect for Valentine's art projects or perhaps for wedding pieces now that the season of weddings is almost upon us!
Please remember to play nice.. no adding these images to CD's for resale or selling them the way they are. I work hard to provide them free for you and would like them to remain free for others as well. Feel free to use them in your art and craft and sell your wares!
A link back to this site is always nice too. :)
Thank you! Enjoy!

Tuesday, February 1, 2011 at 10:24AM Here is a lovely Vintage Valentine PDF printable just for you! The tiny fairy sewing the heart for the puppy is so cute! Just click on the above image or HERE to save it for later or to print it out.
Just cut around the outside of the card, then clip out the center pieces that are circled in red in the image below.
So easy and so much fun! I think my girls are going to give one of these to each of their classmates for Valentines Day. Perhaps with a treat attached. ;)
Here are several snippets from the card above for your digital or crafty projects.
Enjoy!

This page is from the Common Sense Medical Advisor dated 1886. It is most excellent that they viewed LOVE as a common Sense medicine, necessary for proper human health.
You can view other images that I have scanned from this antique book if you click on the 'science' tag below. Happy hunting!
