The Hanging of the Crane by Longfellow 1874

I picked this antique book up a few weeks ago, just before my computer power supply bit the dust, 'The Hanging of the Crane' by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow.  Note the 'Illustrated' part on the cover.. that is my favorite bit! All of the tiny drawings that fill each page, telling the story of the poem. the poem itself is quite wonderful but being a visual person, I REALLY adore each small image best.

Victorian Lady ~ Free Image

Isn't she fabulous? I adore how all of the accessories are so properly placed.. soft cushion, the rug, table and flowers.  The hat, spectacles and parasol are all fantastic as well.. the perfect dress for a day in the park in June.
