The Hanging of the Crane by Longfellow 1874

I picked this antique book up a few weeks ago, just before my computer power supply bit the dust, 'The Hanging of the Crane' by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow.  Note the 'Illustrated' part on the cover.. that is my favorite bit! All of the tiny drawings that fill each page, telling the story of the poem. the poem itself is quite wonderful but being a visual person, I REALLY adore each small image best.

I have tons to share with you from this book, so here is a sampling to get you started...

Hope that wets your appetite!

xoxo~

These little drawings are lovely Abbie - so much detail. I like the cherub best. Thanks for sharing. Margie

This is wonderful! thanks! I envision using the cover for a gathering of halloween goodies! (Even if the story isn't a scary one, it just looks ominous to me!)

Wow, lady you hit the jackpot, gorgeous cover, probably leather. And the drawings are gorgeous, would be so pretty framed.
