Not the prettiest lady in the world..

Most of the cabinet cards I come across are of those who aren't exactly model material. Like this handsomely dressed woman. I think. With the hard eyebrows, nose and mouth she could easily be mistaken for Leonardo DiCaprio or the young handsome actor who portrayed a young Darth Vadar in Episode II, his name eludes me right now. lol! Sorry, I just couldn't help myself!

Not every image is perfect, but they all are fabulous. To me there is more storyline in her face than in most of the prefect angels or pretty faces that we come across.

Enjoy!

xoxo~

This truly looks like a man, or teen male in a dress. Fascinating either way!

Could it be that it's a vintage drag after all? Hmm... The hand -- especially the thumb -- looks more male than female, but it could as well be the hand of a woman who works a lot in the field and around a farm.

Intriguing photo -- thanks for sharing!

Happy creating,
Birgit

I HAD to look again!! Do you see a bit of "Adam's apple" above the collar?

Her face has character. I collect cabinet photos, CDVs, & tintypes and focus on the unusual, extrodinary, or those that have a quality other than a pretty face. She fits the bill.
Thank you for sharing.

just wanted to mention her hat and the rug behind her on the window. i believe this girl is turkish. definately at least from a place with ideals of beauty that were different than ours.

I learned something new today. I had no idea that they were called "cabinet cards". Thanks!

I couldn't help but notice the size of her hands.

Hi Abbie,

I stumbled upon your wonderful site today, that to my grief is going to close soon :((
I much appriciate all you had to offer and tried to save some nice things to my pc.
As to this fotograph: as far as I can make out it's not a woman, but a man.
Look at his features and indeed his hands and the Adam's apple!

Thanks again for all your work! greetings, Trix from the Netherlands
