Playing with PNG files and wallpapers...

Click this image for more info on PNG files...

I have been making some PNG files for you! :) Quickly, for those who are unfamiliar, PNG files have a transparent background around the image. Meaning, that the border you see as white, isn't there when you insert the image into a digital project.

I know that Photoshop is the software of choice, but for those of you who can't afford it, or don't have the hours to learn how to use it, PhotoScape (FREE!) is a great alternative! (I haven't received any favors from PhotoScape for this...)  Using PNG images makes it even better for collaging images. If enough people comment on this post, I'll do a tutorial on how to use PhotoScape (I use it for 80% of the work that I do and have been using it for about 3 years) and how to create with PNG and JPG images.  It is really cool and has lots of potential for creating fun, dynamic collages.

Enough blahblah... here a few PNG images! :)

Here is a jumbled idea of what PNG images can do.. note that the frame is empty, and the box shadow is translucent to the subject below it... and the tag over the frame..

Do you need the JPG format too? I'm not sure what people out there are looking for.. I'd love to offer what you need, so speak up and I'll do what I can!

Also, I have been playing with the idea of making wallpapers but there are so many screen sizes out there and creating a dozen different sizes just doesn't seem like fun. But a few I can handle..  :P I have done a trial image, if you try it let me know how it works. Again, if you want them I'll make more! (my screen is uber large so it's hard to gauge how it'll look on yours.)

BLANK WALLPAPER:

MAY CALENDAR WALLPAPER:

I have made a few more wallpapers for you and also have more PNG's but I can't share them all today. I need something for tomorrow!

 xoxo~

Abbie

I love your wallpaper design. I'd love for you to do a PhotoScape tutorial, it's always good to know more than one way to edit and create. And thanks for the PNGs, in Publisher there is a tool that makes backgrounds transparent but you don't always get a clean edge. PNGs are so much better for digi-design.
I love your blog and the wonderful images you provide...

I love your blog and a tutorial would be great...as much as I love all the beautiful images I find online, I'm overwhelmed with what to do with them. Maybe it just means I'm less than creative! :)

Thanks so much for the information about Photoscape. I downloaded it immediately and thought, hmmm, now what? So yes a tut would be great. Could you possibly do one from the ground up, for we newbs who do not have a clue?

I would love a tutorial! I am a newbie too and would love to learn some new things that I could use for my jewelry designs.

I love the images . . .I am such a bird fan, and the eggs in the box are adorable. I use photoshop but am sure there are many that would love the tutorials for the free program. When I first started I used Gimp and it is also free, and a wonderful program. Thank you for all the work you share!
