Les Modes Parisiennes, Illman & Sons Giveaway!!

Yay for giveaways! :)

French couture is always a good thing! This antique plate was offered in Peterson's Magazine.  It was one of many original handcolored lithographs supplied with the monthly Periodical in the mid 1800's. Each print was hand colored by the artist, as thus, each magazine had it's own, original work of art in it.

This is a high resolution scan, one of four that I have for you. I think, perhaps we are in need of a giveaway here on The Vintage Moth!!  Just leave a comment on this post and let me know what you might do with them to be entered to win FOUR ORIGINAL, HANDCOLORED prints! (I'm just curious.. perhaps you'll inspire a new idea for someone!)

I will ship these anywhere in the world and I'd love for you to spread the word about this giveaway! I'll post the winner on Monday the 19th of April.

Each day this weekend I'll post anther print, so you can see the entire prize.

Have a lovely weekend, don't forget to stop by and see the other prints!

xoxo~

Abbie

You may, of course, print this out and use it in you art, crafts, etc. All I ask is that you please not sell it, (the poor person who pays for something that I have offered free) and don't add it to a CD for resale. Thank you! (unless of course you WIN it, then you may do whatever you wish with them!)

Hi Abbie!
If I were to win, I would frame and hang them in my dining room/kitchen. This is the room everybody spends the most time and they would be very appreciated. Sally

If I were to win, I'd hang them in my bedroom! They'd be my inspiration to put extra effort into my toilette every morning. ;)

Something so special needs pride of place. I love the idea that they have been hand coloured by the original artist. I think in my lounge above our stairs would be perfect. We have deep red walls and I think they'd be a fantastic contrast. Yay for offering world wide. It makes this little Australian's heart very happy :)

I love these!! I love vintage anything and these would be framed in some chic frames and put in my kitchen! I still might use the images to do something b/c they are so fun!

I think that I would scan them in and then use them in two (at least!) ways: print copies of to use in making handmade books (as cover art), and print onto Jacquard inkjet fabric to use in either collage work or again in book-making.

I guess once I'd scanned them, I would probably frame them and hang them in my daughter's room. She is five, nearly six, and says frequently that she just loves "fashion", so it would be a good fit!

Thank you for your tireless efforts in posting all that you do. You are on my blog list and I look at everything you take the time to post; I just don't have much time to do anything with most of them. But even just looking at what you've put up gives me something nice to think about every day.

Hi Abbie,

I would love to win these beautiful prints. I collect vintage fashion images and especially love this period. As a newer "Button Floozie", I found this giveaway on that site. I would probably add one or more of them to my ongoing lacy journal and maybe scan in the other two and do a couple of digital collages and maybe some fashion tags.

Thanks for the chance of winning.

I would want need to use these as backdrops on mini-theatres featuring fashion plate characters.

Lovely giveaway - thanks for the opportunity!

I love the print and the colors! The couture of the rider is elegant as is the side saddle and tack on the horse. A lovely image! I would frame them and put them up in the tack room to add a touch of elegance to the saddles and bridles. This space is, by the way, in the corner of my studio so it would be a lovely addition.
Thank you for offering such a nice giveaway!

Thank you very much. Obviously I'd hang them but first of all I'd scan them and reduce to 1:12 scale for my doll house. Thanks again Rosana

Hi Abbie,

I think I would frame them and find a special place to display the pictures. Maybe I would use one in a mixed media project.

By the way, I currently have a giveaway on my blog -- a bookmark calendar with black and white photos of Paris. Maybe that's something YOU would like. :)

Happy creating,
Birgit

Hello!

I would put them in my little girl's room. I've been at lost for a theme, but decided recently that vintage and floral would be so much fun!

April 15, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterKatie

Oh, how beautiful! I would scan it to keep it for my art, and then mount it on top of an old wooden box I have!

April 15, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterLaurie

Ooh, I can see them printed onto fabric and made into cushions. Can you imagine, a set of 4 of those sitting on your bed or your settee? With the originals hanging on the wall behind them? That would be awesome.

These prints would fit in so well framed and displayed in my soon to be study. I'd look at them and daydream about the days of hoop skirts and bonnets!

The Button Floozies sent me to check out your wonderful giveaway and I am so glad they did! If I am the lucky winner, I will frame them and line my walls with them for all of my guests to see! The first one is beautiful - I can't wait to see the rest!

I'm doing some redecorating and looking for old photos and prints. I'm using mattes and frames embellished scraps of jewelry as well as old lace and textiles rescued from disintegrating old clothing... I'd love to have some nice authentic ones to inspire me!

Thanks for posting so much wonderful stuff - not sure what I'm going to do with the "Cries of London" that you posted recently, but I love them and will find something delightful to do with them!
