A kick in the crafty rear...

I am hankering for spring.. bright colors, green grass, the flowers, birds and even, yeah, the black flies. Anything that means that winter is over! We are stuck in between seasons here in NH. It's has been like that almost all winter. Not much snow, but not much warmth. Lots of grey, brown and dirty snow.

I have been trying to find something, anything to keep my mind and hands busy. Unfortunately nothing seems to interest me right now. I don't want to cook, sew, crochet, knit, clean, craft.. blah. I pulled out some of my favorite yarns the other day to see if perhaps I could start a blanket, hat, anything... blerg.. didn't work.

Above is a shot of half a sock I have crocheted. It is sitting inside my bench in the living room waiting for me. I had started to knit a pair of socks with this same yarn here. I couldn't keep my head in that project either and pulled it out after a few rows. I thought perhaps that crocheting socks (I really wanted to use the yarn) might work better as I am much more adept at crochet. The pattern is fabulous, but because I have little feet, I had to make adjustments. I did great until I hit the heel. Now I am stuck again and completely uninspired to keep going.

Ah well.. someday my creativity will return. For now am patiently waiting for it. Sitting around, twiddling my thumbs, blowing my bangs out of eyes, and desperately needing warm weather, sunshine, and a good swift kick in the crafty rear.

The other sock on my foot was a gift from my dear friend (and super knitter extraordinaire) Amber over at Pixies Stix. (she actually gave me an entire pair! Thank you Am, I love them!)   ;)

Glutton for punishment...

What was I thinking? no, seriously, why do I do this to myself?  I have my sewing, collages, crochet.. why must I do this too??  It is the source of much frustration and angst for me at this moment. but I love it.

This wonderful strawberry and cream Sockotta.. it's delicious! (and made in Italy.. what could be more wonderful than that??)  I am attempting my first pair of socks. Ha! lol! No, really this is quite funny as I have yet to knit anything. Oh wait. I did knit a miniature sweater in knitting class. Oh, and a huge swatch of different knitting patterns. But other than that, niente*. (*'nothing' in Italian)

Not being one to mess around, this is my first real project. I have cast on a dozen (more ?) times and now have my first row of ribbing done. 6 rows of ribbing done! I can do this thing! I know all the stitches, just have to get my hands round the five needles, five tiny needles and itty, bitty string. This is my 'go-to' project when all else fails me and I need to relax. Okay, maybe not relax, but it does so completely occupy my mind that all else falls by the wayside.

Okay, back to work! If I can do this, you can do this!

Aaahhhhh.....

You can find me here.. relaxing.

I have been reading Weekend Knitting and am quite enjoying it. I am trying to find a simple project to muddle through.

Above is a crocheted scarf that I just finished. It was made from a gorgeous cotton bamboo blend yarn.

Do you have any ides for easy knitting projects or sites that offer any?

Knit two, ladybug one, purl two...

I am in love. Yes, it's true... a new new love has stolen my heart and now occupies way too much of my day. You know that 'young love'? The kind that steals you away and you want to spend every minute with them? The kind that makes your mind and heart think of nothing else.. that is what I'm talking about. Two smooth sticks, a ball of yarn and I am in *heaven*. *Sigh* I started taking a knitting class last weekend and it fabulous!! Love, passion, a girlie crush, whatever it is, I am enjoying it most thoroughly!

While I was working the other day on my 'homework' this little ladybug decided to make an appearance.
Oh, you have no idea how wonderful his arrival is! It is a symbol of the coming of Spring!

He crawled all around, checking out my new, fancy-shmancy Crystal Palace bamboo needles. Bamboo is so much nicer than aluminum.. it grips the yarn just enough so I don't drop my stitches. Once I am a little better, I will probably want the smooth metal but for now the warm wood is perfect.
The girls loved watching him run the needles. They cheered him on and when he fell, Momma would have to carefully place him back up on his balance beam.
The magazine below my work is last years Living from Martha Stewart. They really are timeless and I love to read them year after year looking for old 'new' ideas.
I hope that you all are well and doing what you love! If not, find something to fall in love with, again or for the first time. It's so much fun!
