The Good Book
Tuesday, May 4, 2010 at 7:55AM I have started to read the Bible. From the beginning. I don't know how many times I have tried and gotten lost in the 'begets' of Genesis and just never persevered. I am using three different versions and combining them into a quite informative read. I have a King James Bible, with a gorgeous, soft leather cover. One my children will remember as mine and fight over once I'm gone. ;) I am also using an Archaeological Study Bible
which I am finding fascinating! (I am a history buff..) Lastly, to keep me on track with my readings and for a slightly different spin, I am using a The One Year Bible for Women
. If I could have found a King James Version, One Year Archaeological Study Bible I would have bough that. But I couldn't so I ended up with three, but between them I am finding a great understanding and depth that I would have been missing had I left one of the books out. I am NOT trying to spread the good word here. Trust me.. I am just so in awe of those who are on such a steady track.. most who are, speak very strongly of their faith and beliefs. AND, it is the most read book in the world, I figured I better understand just what all the fuss is about. Have you read the entire Bible or just portions? What version? Was there any one passage, book, Proverb, Psalm that has stayed with you? I'd love to know..

My favorite has always been Revelation 21:4. Not really sure why...just is. I think I like it as a promise that yes, we all have trials but Heavenly Father isn't going to let them take over us forever...there is a light at the end:)
I always thought that the " Living Bible" version was the easiest to understand.
Well, Abbie, I don't think a gal can go wrong to read the Bible. Though I am always in one scrape or another, without the promises contained there and the Jesus of the NT, I truly don't know where I'd be.
Jeremiah 29:11-13 - For I know the thoughts and plans that I have for you, says the Lord, thoughts and plans for welfare and peace, and not for evil, to give you hope in your final outcome. Then you will call upon Me, and you will come and pray to Me, and I will hear and heed you. Then you will seek Me, inquire for and require Me [as a vital necessity] and find Me; when you search for Me with all your heart. Amplified version.
So glad you found the Archaelogical Study Bible! What a great one for you :) Hope you are having a wonderful day! Thinking of you!
